A recent study conducted by CCM Benchmark shows that smartphones are more and more used when traveling abroad. Tourists are more and more willing to remain connected everywhere and anytime. Even when traveling abroad.

This study shows that 86% of tourists have brought their smartphone when they travel abroad this is far beyond the use of tablets and laptops (58% for tablets and only 33% for laptops).

How people use their smartphone and internet abroad:

The tourists mostly use their smartphone for checking information on tourist attraction (for 54% of them), to locate or discover places (52% of the tourists) and to use social networks to post and share pictures with their family and friend (36% of the travelers).

The result of this study is also consistent with a previous one conducted by InterContinental Hotels Group. ICHG study showed that an access to Internet was a key priority for people when they travel abroad. Whatever the location, travelers want to remain connected.
